Rules

It is our vision with ADRENALINE, that is should be possible for as many people as possible to get a fight in the ring, regardless of their preferred style of fighting. Therefore, the rules for the fights will most often be decided with the fighters individually, according to their preferences. If a fighter has specific requests or wishes, we will do our best to fullfill those and find an opponent who will match. This way, ADRENALINE is open for many different fights with creative and exciting rules as well as traditional, well-tested rulesets. All fights will be in a standard size boxing ring.

We have a basic set of rules, that fighters can choose between:

  • Professional MMA rules
  • Amateur MMA rules
  • Amateur MMA rules with no striking allowed on the ground
  • Standup fighting full contact with MMA gloves
  • Standup fighting full contact with boxing gloves
  • Standup fighting full contact with no head shots
  • Grappling with gi
  • Grappling without gi
  • Full contact stick fighting

    All rulesets are due to change according to the individual fighters wishes.



    Professional MMA rules

    Minimum age
    All fighters must be minimum 18 years of age.

    Matchmaking
    All fights should be well-matched.

    Referee
    Each fight should be overseen by an approved referee.

    Weightclasses
    1. Lightweight -70 kg
    2. Welterweight -77 kg
    3. Middleweight -84 kg
    4. Light Heavyweight -93 kg
    5. Heavyweight +93 kg

    Coaches
    1. Each competitor is entitled to having two coaches in their corner. No more than that is allowed during the fight.
    2. During the fight, none of the coaches shall remain in the competition area.
    3. The coaches, shall be in possession of a towel for the competitor and may, if they consider the competitor to be in difficulty, give in for the competitor by throwing the towel into the ring/cage.
    4. Advice, assistance or encouragement should be given to the competitor in a calm manner during the progress of the fight.
    5. The competitor may be cautioned, warned or disqualified by the referee for offences committed by the coaches.

    Medic
    There must be at least one medical at the event.

    Competition area
    Ring

    Bout duration
    1. The duration of the rounds, number of rounds and rest between rounds is is decided individually for each fight according to the fighters specific wishes.

    Equipment
    1. Vale Tudo gloves (will be provided by the organiser).
    2. Fighting shorts, boxing trunks, gi or similar.
    3. Groin cup.
    4. Mouth piece.
    5. Knee protection (optional).

    Fouls
    1. Rubbing the body with liniment or similar.
    2. Excessive use of Vaseline (more then needed in the face).
    3. Butting with the head, eye gouging of any kind, biting, hair pulling, fish hooking, groin attacks of any kind, putting a finger into any orifice or into any cut or laceration on an opponent, clawing/pinching/twisting the flesh, spitting at an opponent. Small joint manipulation (fingers and toes).
    4. Striking to the spine or the back of the head.
    5. Throat strikes of any kind, including, without limitation, grabbing the trachea.
    7. Spiking an opponent to the canvas on his head or neck.
    8. Throwing an opponent out of the ring or fenced area.
    9. Kicking the head of a grounded opponent.
    10. Kneeing the head of a grounded opponent.
    11. Stomping a grounded opponent.
    12. Kicking to the kidney with the heel.
    13. Kicking the head of a standing opponent when grounded.
    14. Holding the ropes or the fence.
    15. Holding the shorts or gloves of an opponent.
    16. Attacking an opponent on or during the break.
    17. Attacking an opponent who is under the care of the referee.
    18. Attacking an opponent after the bell has sounded the end of the period of unarmed combat.
    19. Engaging in an unsportsmanlike conduct that causes an injury to an opponent.
    20. Using abusive language in the ring or fenced area.
    21. Flagrantly disregarding the instructions of the referee.
    22. Timidity, including, without limitation, avoiding contact with an opponent, intentionally or consistently dropping the mouthpiece or faking an injury.
    23. Interference by the corner.
    24. Stomping on feet or hands of opponent.
    25. Neckcranks, crucifixes and full nelson.

    Restart of fight in same position
    In case of a warning, medical check or similar, the fight shall be restarted in the same position as before the break.

    Restart of the fight in case of a stalemate
    The referee may restart the fight in neutral position (standing up) if the fighters reach a stalemate and do not work to improve position or finish.

    Ways to Win
    1. Submission (by physical or verbal tap out).
    2. Opponent's corner-crew throws in the towel.
    3. Technical knockout (the referee stopping the contest).
    4. Decision (via the scorecards of three point judges: 10-9 or in case of a very even fight 10-10).
    5. Opponent is disqualified.

    Judges decision - Scoring criteria
    1. Dominance of the fight
    2. Effectiveness of techniques
    3. Activity during the fight

    No contest
    A fight can be declared as a "no contest". This can be done during or after the fight.

    Protest
    If a competitor, a coach or a school manager want to protest against a decision or outcome of a fight, a written protest should be delivered to the event arranger within 48 hours of the event.

    Post-fight medical check
    A fighter should be sent to hospital for post-fight medical check if there is any doubt concerning the fighter’s condition.

    Illegal use of narcotics & doping
    The competitor agrees to be tested, immediately preceding and following the fight, to confirm negative results of use of marijuana, cocaine, heroin, barbiturates and other illegal substances. Should any test result be positive, the competitor will be automatically disqualified.



    Amateur MMA rules

    (Same rules as Professional MMA, but with following additions)

    Equipment
    1. Approved gloves (taped) - will be provided by the organiser.
    2. Approved shin protection (taped) - will be provided by the organiser.
    3. Approved fighting shorts (for example vale tudo shorts or sprawl shorts).
    4. Groin cup.
    5. Mouth piece.
    6. Rash guard (optional).
    7. Knee protection (optional).

    Fouls
    1. Kneeing the head of a standing opponent.
    2. Kicking to head or body of a grounded opponent.
    3. Kicking to head or body of a standing opponent when grounded.
    4. Kicking straight kicks at a standing opponent when grounded.
    5. Jerking when attempting a submission (all submissions should be pulled, not jerked).
    6. Striking using the elbow or forearm.



    B-class Amateur MMA rules

    (Same rules as Amateur MMA, but with following additions)

    Fouls
    1. Striking of any kind during ground-fight. If opponent has a knee or hand on the floor one has to either wrestle or let the opponent stand up.
    2. Heel-hooks.

    Knockdown
    There is a standing 8-count in the fight when one fighter is knocked down. At the second knockdown of a fighter within the same round the fight is stopped.



    Standup fighting rules

    Clothing
    1. Allowed clothing is shorts, kickboxing pants, kimono, rashguard. No tshirt allowed.

      1. Mouthguard

      5. Hand wraps and tape (must be approved by organizer)

      Type 2

      Type 3

      Type 4

      4. Shinpads
      5. Hand wraps and tape (must be approved by organizer)

    Legal Techniques
    1. Striking to the head and body (above waist)
    2. Kicking to the head and body using the wrist, heel or shin
    3. Catching Kicks are legal as long as you follow up with punch or kick.
    4. Spinning backfist

      Additional legal techniques for some fights
      1. Circular kicks to the inside and outside of thighs, shins and calves using the wrist, heel or shin
      2. Knees to the body
      3. Knees to the legs
      3. Knees to the face
      4. Clinching (holding on to opponent)
      5. Throwing opponent
    Fouls
    1. Unclean techniques / Brawling
    2. Kicks to the knee joint
    3. Attacking the groin
    4. Thrusting frontkicks to the legs
    5. Attacking the knees, spine or back of head
    6. Excessive use of Vaseline (more then needed in the face)

    Fighting Time
    1. The duration of the rounds, number of rounds and rest between rounds is is decided individually for each fight according to the fighters specific wishes.

    Ways to win
    1. Knockout
    2. If Referee feels one competitor is unable to defend himself or feels his life is in danger, the referee will declare the winner (TKO)
    3. If a fighter breaks the rules twice he will be disqualified by the Referee
    4. If the referee feel the fighter is breaking the rules deliberately, he will be disqualified immidiately.
    3. Three judges decision (10-9 system)

    Clothing
    1. Allowed clothing is BJJ/Judo kimono, fightshorts and rashguard. No tshirt allowed.

    Legal Techniques
    1. Any kind of choke (except for using the hand to close the wind pipe) with or without the use of the uniform (rashguard not included).
    2. Any armbar, shoulder lock, or wrist lock
    3. Any leglock or anclelock except heel hooks (see Fouls)

    Fouls
    1. Rubbing the body with liniment or similar.
    2. Excessive use of Vaseline (more then needed in the face)
    3. Butting with the head, eye gouging of any kind, biting, hair pulling, fish hooking, groin attacks of any kind, putting a finger into any orifice or into any cut or laceration on an opponent, clawing/pinching/twisting the flesh, spitting at an opponent.
    4. Small joint manipulation (fingers and toes)
    5. Throwing/spiking/slamming an opponent to the canvas on his head or neck.
    6. Throwing an opponent out of the ring or fenced area or matted area.
    7. Throwing an opponent with a grip of head/neck only.
    8. Holding the ropes or fence.
    9. Holding the shorts and equipment of an opponent.
    10. Attacking an opponent on or during the break.
    11. Attacking an opponent who is under the care of the referee.
    12. Attacking an opponent after the bell has sounded the end of the period of unarmed combat.
    13. Engaging in an unsportsmanlike conduct that causes an injury to an opponent.
    14. Using abusive language.
    15. Flagrantly disregarding the instructions of the referee.
    16. Timidity, including, without limitation, avoiding contact with an opponent, intentionally or consistently dropping the mouthpiece or faking an injury.
    17. Interference by the corner.
    18. Neck Cranks
    19. Striking / kicking of any kind
    20. Grabbing the ears
    21. Thumbing
    22. Scratching and pinching
    23. Touching groin area
    24. Hands, knees or elbows on face
    25. Slippery substances on body or clothing
    26. Heel-hooks (twisting leg-locks were the foot is locked to the body and the body-weight is used in the motion of the lock). Figure-four foot-lock and toe-hold are allowed.
    27. "Takedown neck-cranks" (that is neck-cranks starting standing up ending on the ground) for example a "crucifix" executed from standing turning to the ground with body-weight going down on the neck.

    The winner will be decided according to
    1. If one competitor gives up or submits by tapping out or verbally submitting.
    2. If Referee feels one competitor is unable to defend himself or feels his life is in danger, the referee will declare the winner
    3. If a fighter breaks the rules twice he will be disqualified by the Referee
    4. If the referee feel the fighter is breaking the rules deliberately, he will be disqualified immidiately.

    Standing up
    1. If one fighter stands up and backs away, the other fighter must follow and stand up as well

    Fighting Time
    1. Fights last 6 minutes
